Valerie Madonia

Valerie Madonia

Valerie Madonia trained at the National Ballet School of Canada. She danced professionally for over 20 years with the National Ballet of Canada,  American Ballet Theatre, and the Joffrey Ballet. She began her career as a member of the corps de ballet and eventually established herself as a leading ballerina with the Joffrey. After leaving the Joffrey Ballet Ms Madonia was guest performer with Alonzo Kings Lines Ballet, Complexions Dance, Inc., Le Gala des Etoiles, Montreal and Greece, among others. She has appeared in six PBS Dance in America Specials and is featured in four dance books including Classical Ballet Technique by G.W. Warren. Ms Madonia is an adjudicator and master teacher for the Youth American Grand Prix. From 2013 to 2017 Ms Madonia held the position of director of the Colorado Ballet Academy, Denver.

 


Jane Lord

Jane Lord

After graduating from Canada’s National Ballet School in 1979 Jane Lord joined the Dutch National Ballet. She performed as principal dancer from 1990 until her retirement in 2001. 
Ms Lord danced leading roles in ballets including Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella and Swan Lake, as well as performing the choreography of Rudi Van Dantzig, Toer Van Schayk, Hans Van Manen, Sir Frederick Ashton, and George Balanchine. She performed worldwide as a guest artist. Ms Lord is on staff at the National Ballet Academy in Amsterdam.

 


Marc Boivin

Marc Boivin

Marc Boivin began his dance career at Le Groupe de la Place Royale, Ottawa, and then joined O Vertigo Danse, Montreal. Since 1991 he has worked as an independent dancer for choreographers including Louise Bédard, Sylvain Emard, Jean-Pierre Perreault, Catherine Tardif, Tedd Robinson. Since 2007 his own choreography has included R.A.F.T. 70, Impact, and Une idée sinon vraie... Mr Boivin has been a regular teacher with L’école de danse contemporaine de Montréal since 1987. He guest teaches and choreographs at schools and companies across Canada. From 2006 he has been president of the Fondation Jean-Pierre Perreault, and from 2010 president of the RQD (Regroupement québécois de la danse).

 


Erika SandreErika Sandre

Erika Sandre, a graduate of Canada’s National Ballet School’s Teacher Training Program, has taught in Toronto at the National Ballet School, and in Anchorage at the Alaska Dance Theatre and the University of Alaska. She is now on staff at the Colorado Ballet Academy, in Denver. Along with her diploma from the National Ballet School Ms Sandre holds an Associate Diploma with the Cecchetti Society of Canada and a National Dance teaching certificate with I.S.T.D. of London. An accomplished Flamenco dancer, Ms Sandre is currently performing with Flamenco Denver.


Monica Kapelar

Monica Kapelar
Monica Kapelar graduated with honours from George Brown College (Toronto) with a diploma in dance. In France she received the National Diploma in Classical Ballet. She danced in Canada with Ontario Ballet Theatre, The Hamilton Opera Company, and in France with the Wayne Barbaste Dance Company. In 1991 Ms Kapelar was the National Fitness and Aerobics Champion in France and as such initiated the FitKids and Dance Impact programs. Ms Kapelar is currently teaching ballet and jazz in her hometown of Smithers, B.C., Canada, and is in demand as guest instructor for her dance and body awareness workshops.


Karin Shimoji

Karin Shimoji
Karin Shimoji graduated from the Showa Music University's ballet course. She has attended seminars at Ballet British Columbia, Vancouver, Toronto Dance Theatre, Toronto, and Canada's National Ballet School, Toronto. In 2010 Ms Shimoji was awarded the Royal Academy of Dance teacher's certificate. In 2014 she became a certified instructor of Balanced Body Comprehensive Pilates.
